Music Therapy Sessions

What does a music therapy session involve? What does the music therapist actually do? How long are music therapy sessions, how often etc.

Consulting

There may be no music therapist at a facility but staff are still wishing to utilise music in the best way they can. This section outlines how this can be done through music therapy consulting.

Assessment

Music therapy assessments differ from sessions in that they are essentially gathering "musical" information about the child in terms of responses to music, and how these can be tapped into in a therapeutic program.

Presentations/ In-Service Training

Many people are interested in music therapy and seek out seminars in order to learn more about it. This section includes examples of music therapy presentations and includes topics addressed in such seminars. Some facilities do not have a music therapist, therefore a hands-on workshop run by the music therapist is often utilised to give the staff training in techniques for using music in the workplace.
